Summer School on Mathematical Philosophy for Female Students | Munich, Germany | March 5, 2018 | July 15- July 21, 2018 | Since women are significantly underrepresented in philosophy generally and in formal philosophy in particular, this summer school is aimed at encouraging women to engage with mathematical methods and apply them to philosophical problems. This year the focus of the summer school will be to provide an infrastructure for developing expertise in formal approaches used in (1) philosophy of physics, (2) philosophy of biology and social science, and (3) epistemic logic and philosophy of cognition. The summer school will offer the opportunity for study in an informal setting, lively debate, and for the development of a network with students and professors interested in the application of formal methods in philosophy of science. Finally, being located at the MCMP, the summer school will also provide a stimulating and interdisciplinary environment for meeting like-minded philosophers. |

Summer Reading School for Women* Students | Vienna | March 30, 2018 | July 23 - July 28, 2018 | The event was created by four philosophy students who wanted to establish a space to read and discuss philosophy together. Thus, this event differs from "traditional" summer schools: there are no lectures and seminars during the day, and the focus is not on the external speakers. Instead, the participants of the Summer Reading School read, think and discuss together. The 2018 Summer Reading School will be based on core texts in Feminism and the Philosophy of Language. A bound collection of these texts will be distributed at the beginning of the week. |
